My mate texted me "surface water drainage" and then about a minute later "its a scam", and that was where this started, not much context and no follow-up, so I've since spent an evening reading a High Court judgment about a sewer in St Helens. Cheers for that.

Why manhole covers are round

There is a stupid manhole cover interview question and it annoys me. A circle can't fall through its own hole no matter how you tilt it, a square one rotated onto its diagonal just slips through and drops on whoever's underneath, same deal with a rectangle or an oval, anything with a "long way across." Circle's the same width in every direction so there's no angle that lets it through. Makes sense

The ice bath is 5,000 years old. Nobody told the podcasters.

So, I wanted to know where the ice bath actually came from (not the Huberman protocol) the actual thing itself. Because there's a small industry of people getting into freezing water on purpose these days, and Amazon sold 90,000 of those portable tubs in a single month back in 2023, and none of that happens without someone starting it.
