29 Dominos can topple the Empire State Building
Yes, 29 dominos placed next to each other and flicked, could in theory topple the Empire State Building.
1 Domino can knock over another domino that’s roughly 50 percent bigger. Going off this logic, a 5mm tall domino can knock over a 7.5mm domino, and then a 7.5mm domino can knock over a 11.25mm domino.
And by following this sequence the 13th Domino will be 65cm tall, and will already have compounded over 2 billion times the energy you initially gave by flicking the first domino.
By the 20th, it’s 11.1 meters, and into the trillions times the amount of energy.
By the 25th, it’s 84.2 metres in the air! Gaining 73 metres from only the last 5 dominos before it!
Then finally by 29, it’s over 426 metres in the air, 45 metres higher than the building itself, and into the quadrillions of times the kinetic energy in KJ from the initial flick of a finger..
Although this is cool and everything, the key message I want to leave you with today is the art of compounding!
Like many of us I like to doom scroll, but coming across Tom Wickstead on Instagram showed me how powerful this can really be. He threw a zyn in and layed out that if you invest 300 pound a month into an account that averages 10 percent interest, by the time you are 60 you will have 1.6 million pounds. Brilliant, but then I looked underneath, and if you wait 10 years and start at 30, you will only end up with 600 thousand!
So that 36 thousand you spend in your 20s (300 x 12 x 10), will stop you from retiring a millionaire!

P.S. you only need to walk in a casino with 50 pounds, and 15 wins on red will leave you with £1,638,400
Your kettle, if switched on at the moment you started reading, would not yet have boiled. It is still going. This post was not long enough.
